Seeds of Change
Inspired, the children start a small community garden using sustainable methods Nalongo taught them. They aim to combat hunger and demonstrate the power of collective effort.
The sun, a benevolent eye in the vast Ugandan sky, cast long, dancing shadows as Amina, Kato, and their friends gathered near the edge of the village. The air hummed with a new kind of energy, a quiet determination that had taken root after their encounters with Nalongo and the lessons learned from the Whispering Map. They held their heads a little higher, their eyes a little brighter, carrying the weight of possibility like precious seeds.
“Nalongo showed us how,” Amina said, her voice soft but firm. She gestured towards a small, neglected patch of land behind the huts, a place where weeds usually reigned supreme. “She said the land is hungry too, and we are its farmers.”
Kato, ever eager to lend a hand, hefted a worn spade. “And we’ll give it the best food it’s ever tasted! We’ll grow enough to fill every belly in our village.” His optimism was a warm blanket, chasing away any lingering doubts.
