To reach a vital water source, Kato must overcome his fear of heights, scaling a treacherous path. His bravery inspires the others and secures a crucial resource.
The sun beat down with a relentless warmth, the kind that baked the earth and made the air shimmer above the dusty track. Amina, Kato, and little Benjy, their faces streaked with the grime of their long journey, squinted towards the towering escarpment that loomed before them. The map, clutched tightly in Amina’s hand, showed a winding path leading to a place marked with a droplet – a hidden spring, a promise of water in this parched land. But the path… the path looked more like a goat track, clinging precariously to the sheer rock face.
Kato, usually the first to charge ahead, was unusually quiet. He kept glancing up, his brow furrowed, a strange tension in his shoulders. Amina, ever observant, noticed. “Kato? Are you alright?” she asked softly, her voice a gentle breeze against the harshness of the day.
Kato forced a smile, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Of course, Amina! Just… thinking about how much water we’ll get when we find that spring. Imagine! We can water Mama’s tomatoes, and the cassava too!” He kicked a loose stone, sending it skittering down the path.
