Grump's Arrival

Pip and Professor Sum tumbled out of the shimmering prime number passage, blinking in the sudden, intense luminescence. It wasn't the soft glow of the Lumina Lilies or the gentle pulse of the Numberblobs' inner light, but a fierce, almost blinding radiance that seemed to emanate from the very air. Before them lay a cavern unlike any they had ever imagined. Crystalline formations, sharp and impossibly smooth, jutted from the floor and ceiling, catching and refracting the light into a thousand dancing rainbows. And in the center of it all, a single, colossal crystal pulsed with a power that made Pip’s very core hum.

But it wasn't just the crystal that halted their breath. Standing before it, his back to them, was a Numberblob Pip knew all too well. Grump. He was taller than Pip, his form a deeper, more somber shade of blue, and his usual scowl seemed etched even deeper into his features as he gazed upon the magnificent gem. A low, triumphant chuckle rumbled from his throat, a sound that sent a shiver down Pip’s spine.

"So," Grump drawled, without turning, his voice laced with smug satisfaction. "The little trailblazer and his dusty mentor finally arrive. A pity, really. You've missed all the fun."
