The sun beat down on the dusty plains, a relentless hammer against my already weary spirit. Each step my horse took felt heavier than the last, and the silence, once a comfort, now pressed in on me like a shroud. Her clothes were practical, leather and roughspun, but there was something distinctly un-raider-like about her. She was too… free.
