…The sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the scarred land of Veridia. But in the heart of the city, in the hushed square, a different kind of light had begun to dawn. Elara, no longer an isolated questioner, stood with Kael at her side, a small but growing knot of bewildered faces turning towards them, their eyes no longer fixed on the ghosts of the past, but tentatively, fearfully, towards a future that Elara was beginning to show them was not yet lost. The scar of the war remained, but perhaps, just perhaps, it was not the only story Veridia had left to tell.
