The silence of the moon, the lurking shadows, and the ancient secrets of this wood were all intertwined, and the thread, she suspected, was just beginning to reveal their true, terrifying meaning. The old man’s presence was a comfort, but the memory of the guardian’s warning, of the hunters and their pursuit, still lingered, a chilling reminder that even in this haven, danger was never far away.
