…My hand finally steeled itself, and I dialed a number I had hesitated to even consider. The ring echoed in the silence, each tone a step closer to the edge. The decision was made. I would no longer be a prisoner of the void. I would face the precipice, and whatever lay beyond, I would face it with my eyes wide open. The question was no longer if I would act, but how. And that, I suspected, was the most dangerous question of all.
