Dressed in a dark shirt and jeans. His eyes found Javier across the distance. “Javier,” the man said. “Long time.” Eladio. Javier didn’t move. “Eladio.” “You look good. Country life suits you.” “What do you want?” Eladio smiled. It didn’t reach his eyes. “I want to talk. Man to man. No guns, no cops. Just you and me.” Javier’s gaze flicked to the house. He could see Nia watching from the window, the boys behind her. He stepped off the porch. “Talk.”
