…Now, the danger had been unmasked, its perpetrators brought into the harsh light of day. But the shadows, she knew, lingered. They always did. The question now was, could this community, and could she, truly step out of them? The unmasking was complete, but the healing, she suspected, was only just beginning. The weight of her fortune, once a source of her isolation and fear, now felt like a tool. A tool for rebuilding, perhaps. Or perhaps, simply a reminder of the vulnerability that wealth could bring. The sunlight streaming through the windows no longer felt like an accusation, but a promise. A fragile, tentative promise of a new dawn.
