…And he watched the others. Kheta, walking slightly apart, her eyes on the ground. Justin, laughing too loudly at something Mike said. Mike, quiet, watching the horizon as if he expected something to appear. Taye felt the water rising. He did not say anything. He did not ask. He kept walking, kept holding Trinity's hand, kept laughing at Ryan's jokes. He played his part, because the part was all he had left, and because he was not ready to know.
