…The growling intensified, a rumble that shook the very foundations of the cavern. The red eyes narrowed, fixed on the fragile light Elara held. The shadow beast was closing in, its presence a suffocating pressure, an icy dread that threatened to extinguish Elara’s courage before it could even bloom. The darkness pressed in, thick and suffocating, and for a terrifying moment, Elara felt herself begin to fade, her edges blurring into the encroaching night. The thread of light pulsed a little faster, a desperate plea urging her onward, towards the shadow beast's maw.
