…They hadn’t performed Shakespeare, not really. They had performed Northwood High. And for one night, that was more than enough. The arts program was safe. The school, however, still felt like it was teetering on the brink, a crumbling bastion that had just, miraculously, held its ground. But for tonight, that was a victory. And as the house lights flickered on, illuminating the discarded crisp packets and the slightly askew set, Ms. Periwinkle knew, with a certainty that banished all doubt, that this was a night they would never forget. The night they answered chaos, and somehow, remarkably, didn't entirely mess it up.
