…The rehearsals were a disaster. They were a mess. They were, in every theatrical sense, a train wreck in slow motion. But as Ms. Periwinkle looked at them, she knew one thing for certain: they were going to get through this. Together. Even if it meant turning Shakespeare into a surrealist comedy about pigeons, saggy doublets, and the existential dread of snack procurement. The final curtain was still a long way off, but for the first time, Ms. Periwinkle felt a tiny, fragile spark of belief, not in the play, but in the sheer, unadulterated, chaotic heart of her students.
