…“Set a course,” Barnaby said, his voice hoarse but firm. “To the heart of the deep.” The crew responded as one, their spectral forms moving with a renewed purpose. The ship lurched forward, gliding across the glassy sea towards a horizon that shimmered with an unnatural light. Barnaby stood at the helm, the ghost of his wife’s forgiveness warming a place in his chest that had been cold for years. He was still a broken man, still a sinner. But he was no longer lost. The voyage was not over. It was only just beginning. And at the end of it, perhaps, he would find not just the Crown’s release, but his own.
