Vladislaus and Katja (Crimson Embrace,The Beginning)

Previously

…As the last vestiges of daylight faded, casting long, skeletal shadows across the room, a silence descended. It was not the peaceful quiet of slumber, but the tense, anticipatory silence of a predator poised to strike. We were united, Katja and I, our love a defiant flame in the encroaching darkness. But the embers of that flame were being fanned by the winds of ancient wrath, and the crimson dawn that had broken over the city felt less like a new beginning and more like the prelude to a storm. We stood together, ready to face whatever came, our hearts bound by a love that defied eternity, our future shrouded in a peril as profound as the shadows that now gathered around us.
