…When consciousness returned, it was gradual, a slow drift back from the abyss. The ship was a wreck, systems offline, lights dead. But he was alive. Somehow, impossibly, he was alive. He floated in the wreckage, the silence now absolute, broken only by the ragged sound of his own breathing. Outside, the stars still blazed, but now they were accompanied by a faint, ethereal glow – the lingering spectral remnants of Violetha, scattered and lost in the cosmic wind. He was adrift, a solitary survivor in a graveyard of worlds, the echo of Violetha a haunting silence in his soul.
