I knew, with a certainty that settled deep in my bones, that I couldn’t let this remain buried. The path ahead was uncertain, fraught with peril, but the alternative was a slow, quiet surrender. And I had seen enough of my mother’s hidden strength, enough of my father’s silent struggle, to know that surrender was not in our blood. The fight for our unforgotten family had just begun.
