You’re not just a stranger anymore. You’re part of Haven.” A wave of something akin to belonging washed over John. It wasn't the sanctuary he had vaguely hoped for, not a place of peace and rest. It was a place of struggle, of constant vigilance, but it was a place of people. And for the first time since he’d woken in the desolate landscape, he felt a flicker of purpose, a reason to fight, not just for himself, but for them. The whispers of the enclave had drawn him in, and now, he was part of its song.
