…He took a tentative step forward, then another. His tail, which had been flicking, now drooped a little. He let out another small whimper, this one a little louder. He was just a little cub, and the big, quiet jungle felt very, very big and very, very quiet. He wanted his Mama. He wanted to feel safe again. He turned, his small paws padding softly on the mossy ground, his eyes searching, his heart yearning for a familiar, loving face. He needed to find Mama. He needed her to make the shadows go away and the friendly sounds come back. He needed her to make him feel brave again.
