…He looked at her, at the way the light caught her hair, at the lines around her eyes that spoke of late nights and early mornings and a life spent chasing something worth catching. "I'm glad I came." She smiled, and for a moment the world outside the window—the patent, the river, the city—all of it faded, and there was only this room, this woman, this quiet moment that felt like it could stretch into something more. Then she stood up, brushed the crumbs off her lap, and held out her hand. "Come on. Let me show you something." He took her hand, and she pulled him to his feet. They walked out of the office together, her hand still in his, and he didn't let go.
