Spring was already asleep, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. Soul, however, stayed awake a little longer, her gaze fixed on the stars peeking through the leaves. She did not know what the future held. She did not know about the prophecies or the dangers. But deep in her tiny heart, a vow was taking root. I will protect you, she whispered, though no sound came out. She was speaking to her brother, to her mother, to Eldoria itself. And somewhere in the starlight, a promise was made.
