…Josie turned, her heart a leaden weight in her chest, and walked towards the waiting train, each step a wrenching separation. She didn’t look back, for fear that if she did, she wouldn’t have the strength to leave. The doors hissed shut, the whistle blew, and with a lurch, the train pulled away, carrying her towards Wisconsin, leaving Cole, and a piece of her heart, behind in the City of Lights. The worn leather book felt heavy in her lap, a tangible anchor to a dream that felt both vividly real and achingly distant. The journey home had begun, but the truest journey, the vourney of the heart, was only just unfolding.
