…Kadja was sent to an all-girls school in Portland, Maine, Catherine McAuley. Moving again, seeking a new beginning, but the unseen entity, a shadow that clung to her spirit, followed relentlessly. It was as if a spirit, ancient and malevolent, refused to leave her alone. All Kadja ever wanted was to be accepted unconditionally. Her life was a sad, lonely procession of towns and schools, a desperate, unending search for a place to fit in, a place where the whispers would finally fade, and the shadows would finally recede. But the old Tudor house in Bar Harbor, with its hidden darkness, was about to reignite the very torment she had tried so desperately to escape.
