…They had bought a vast tract of land in Saint Andrews by the Sea, New Brunswick, Canada, a desperate attempt to escape the shadow that seemed to cling to Kadja, to build a new life far from the whispers and the unseen hands that seemed to guide their misfortunes. But as the biting winds of Bar Harbor gave way to the salt-laced air of the Maritimes, Kadja couldn't shake the gnawing feeling that the past, and its spectral inhabitants, were merely waiting for them to settle in before they revealed themselves once more.
