Then, a single voice from the crowd, “Holy… he actually did it!” Sal Moretti, his jaw practically on the floor, stared at me. “Well, I’ll be… The Rent Money Champion is born!” he exclaimed, then quickly recovered his composure and started cheering. I, Arthur "Artie" Pumble, the man who was supposed to be homeless by Friday, had just won my first fight. And I hadn't even broken a sweat. Or, at least, not too much. My heart was still pounding, my palms were slick with sweat, and my dignity was somewhere at the bottom of the alley, but I had five hundred dollars. And a very, very strange new hobby.
