The wilting houseplant on the coffee table, a testament to Mark’s well-intentioned but ultimately clumsy attempts at nurturing, would, Sarah suspected, eventually find its way into a poem too. And Whiskers, the silent observer of their domestic theater, would undoubtedly continue to orchestrate his own brand of feline-fueled drama, a constant, furry reminder that life, much like a good poem, was best when it was a little bit messy, a little bit unexpected, and always, always full of heart.
