…It was a beautiful dream, a hopeful whisper of what could be, but it was also, I would come to learn, a dangerous naivety. For the most beautiful gardens, the ones that truly flourish, require more than just fertile soil and good intentions. They require active tending, constant vigilance, and a willingness to get your hands dirty, even when the sun is shining. And the seeds of discord, I would discover, are not always obvious. They can lie dormant, hidden beneath the surface, waiting for the slightest crack in the foundation to begin their insidious work. This unplowed field, so full of promise, was also, unknowingly, holding the potential for a very different kind of harvest.
