…Confused, Eli let himself be dragged, the sounds of the party fading behind them. They emerged onto a narrow, windswept balcony, the evening air cool against Eli’s flushed face. The city lights twinkled below, a vast, indifferent sea of illumination. Bright released Eli’s arm, stepping back, his chest rising and falling rapidly. “Alright,” Bright said, his voice rough. “You want to keep this up? You want to keep fighting? We can do it here. We can do it until you’re completely drained, until you’ve said everything you need to say. No one’s going to stop us now.” He gestured to the empty space around them, a challenge hanging in the air. “Let’s go, Eli. Let’s really fight.”
