…“About Chloe?” Andrew’s voice was gentle. “About everything,” Ava admitted. “About how we got here. About… us.” Andrew was silent for a moment, then he sighed, a soft, weary sound. “It’s a lot to process, Ava. We all are.” He paused, then added, “We need to trust each other. Now more than ever.” His words were meant to be reassuring, but they only amplified Ava’s unease. Trust. It was the most precious commodity they had left.
