…The sleepover hadn’t gone exactly as planned. There had been tears, there had been arguments, and there had been a moment where I thought our friendship might actually break. But we’d navigated through it, and because we had, our friendship felt stronger, more resilient. Watching Katie wave goodbye from the front porch, her pink pajamas peeking out from under her jacket, I knew that some things were more important than crushes. And the best thing about having a best friend like Katie was knowing that no matter what, we’d always figure it out. We were Sophia and Katie, and that was a pretty amazing thing to be.
