…The hum intensified, and the darkness seemed to press in, thicker, more suffocating than before. It felt alive. And it was focused entirely on Liam. I could feel it. A malevolent, unseen force, feeding on his deepest fear. “Liam!” I yelled, pushing past Chloe, trying to get to him. But he was already moving. He turned and ran, not towards me, but deeper into the blackness, a desperate, panicked sprint away from something only he could see, something that haunted the edges of his mind and now, it seemed, the very fabric of this place. His screams echoed back to us, swallowed by the suffocating silence of Site 39.
