The Silence of Site 39

…We burst out of the control room, the sound of our panicked footsteps echoing down the deserted corridor. Behind us, we could hear the steel door slamming shut with a deafening clang, as if something had deliberately pushed it closed. We were trapped. Again. The silence of Site 39 had been broken, but the terror it had unleashed was far worse. The cryptic clues had led us not to an escape, but deeper into the heart of the mystery, and the presence that dwelled within. The service tunnels, our one hope, now seemed impossibly distant, and the shadow that had detached itself from the wall felt like it was already breathing down our necks.
