…The world carried on, oblivious to the ancient secrets I had unearthed, the dangers I had averted. But I knew, with a certainty that chilled me to the bone, that the story was not over. The question lingered, a persistent echo in the quiet of my study: what was the true nature of the shadowed scholars, and had I truly put their influence to rest, or merely pushed them deeper into the shadows, waiting for their moment to re-emerge? The neon glow of my blouse seemed to dim, as if mirroring the fading certainty in my own heart. The quest for truth had led me to the precipice of a greater mystery, one that promised to haunt my steps long after the dust of this particular battle had settled.
