…Gu Kai stood, the lamplight reflecting in his determined eyes. He felt the shadows around him stir, acknowledging his resolve. He was still Gu Kai, the boy from Whispering Creek, but he was also something more. He was the nascent Shadow Weaver, and the weight of the world, or at least its impending doom, now rested upon his untrained, yet increasingly capable, shoulders. The prophecy was a heavy cloak, but he would wear it. He had to. For the sake of the light, and for the sake of the shadows he now commanded.
