…Davion looked at the amulet, at the tiny purple gem that held secrets beyond his imagination. He didn’t know what lay ahead—battles, danger, a sorceress named Selene—but he knew one thing with certainty: his life would never be ordinary again. And as the shadows in his room began to dance of their own accord, he felt a shiver of both fear and excitement. He was ready. Or as ready as he could be. Tomorrow, he would talk to Mr. Hawthorne. Tomorrow, he would find out what this all meant. But tonight, he held the amulet and listened to the whispers, knowing that the first step on his journey had already been taken. And somewhere in the shadows, something ancient stirred in return.
