…Outside, she could hear the guards shouting her name, their voices laced with fury. The spaceship lurched violently, and a low, powerful hum filled the small cabin. Through the viewport, Kelly saw the two alien guards standing frozen, their faces twisted in disbelief, as the spaceship began to rise, slowly at first, then with increasing speed, lifting away from the planet of creation, and away from the looming threat of becoming a tree forever.
