…He turned then, the lantern swinging, plunging the room back into near-total darkness. The heavy thud of the door closing echoed in the silence, followed by the unmistakable click of a lock. Sophie was alone again, trapped in the suffocating blackness, the sound of her own terrified breathing the only company, and the chilling realization that her friend, Liam, was her captor. The hike, the mountain, her friends – they all felt impossibly far away, swallowed by the abyss of Liam's betrayal. She was in the dark room, and the true horror had only just begun.
