Their eyes, glowing with a dim, buttery light, fixed on Sarah and Joseph with predatory focus. Sarah scrambled to help Joseph to his feet, but they were already surrounded. The soldiers formed a tight, impenetrable circle, their pretzel spears lowered and ready. The Witch hovered above them, her cackle filling the chamber as her doughy army closed in, their hunger as palpable as the heat radiating from the cave walls.
