…He turned back towards the house, his resolve renewed. Doggy trotted faithfully beside him, his tail giving a hopeful wag. The gate might be rusted shut, but the key, he believed, was within reach. He pushed the heavy oak door open, the hinges groaning again, and stepped back into the shadows of the house. The library was his next destination, a place of silent knowledge and hidden truths. He had a feeling, a deep, quiet certainty, that the unseen gate would only open with a key he had yet to find, a key that held the promise of freedom. The night was still young, and his search had only just begun.
