…The keychain was still gone. My mother was still in prison. The future was still uncertain. But I was still here, and that was something. I looked at the wall, at the jagged triangle of chipped paint. It was just a crack, a small imperfection. But it didn't define the wall. And my past didn't have to define me. I took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. The quiet room of my mind was still heavy with secrets and sorrow, but I was learning to sit with them, to name them, to let them breathe. It wasn't healing. Not yet. But it was a start. And for now, that was enough.
