…The tension in the room eased, replaced by a renewed sense of purpose. The storm clouds hadn't entirely dissipated, but a sliver of sunlight was beginning to break through. The Phoenix Engine, it seemed, was not yet grounded. Its second life, and indeed, the second life of carbon itself, was still very much a possibility. The journey was far from over, but for the first time in a long while, Aris Thorne felt a flicker of his old, unshakeable optimism return. The engine, and by extension, NovaTech, had weathered the first major squall. Now, they just had to keep flying.
