…He retraced his steps, the left path now seeming a little less daunting with Coco snuggled safely in his bag. He emerged back at the crossroads, the sunlight a welcome sight. He patted his backpack. "Ready for round two, Coco?" Coco responded with a happy little bark. Alex looked at the remaining paths. Right, or straight? He decided to try the right path next. It looked more promising, even with the thorny bushes. He hoped it would lead him to the dragon, but he also knew that with Coco by his side, the adventure was already better than he could have imagined.
