He moved with a chilling efficiency, tidying away the remnants of his gruesome work, the silence of the ward now broken only by the rhythmic hum of the medical equipment. He had closed another chapter, leaving behind only the echoes of suffering and the chilling knowledge that the mimic’s hunger was far from sated.
