…The secure channel closed, leaving my phone screen dark and silent once more. But the silence in my apartment was different now. It was no longer the silence of routine, but the charged, expectant hush before a great storm. The hazy orange sun outside seemed to pulse with a new, vibrant energy. Mars. I was going to Mars.
