He didn’t flinch. He simply stood there, his gaze unwavering, a dark, dangerous mystery unfolding before me. The fear was still there, a knot of ice in my stomach, but it was now mingled with a dawning realization. This wasn’t just about survival anymore. This was about understanding the depths of this man’s darkness, and finding a way to navigate it, to exploit it, to escape it. The dream home had become a nightmare, but a nightmare I was now determined to survive.
