…Grom’s answering shout was too eager. “I’ll show you all who’s the most powerful!” Elara tucked the daisy behind her ear and looked up at the sky, a sliver of hope lighting her chest. Maybe she didn’t have magic, but she had eyes to see what others missed. Maybe that was important, too. With a determined step, Elara whispered, “Why can’t I be part of this kingdom? Maybe I just need to find my own way in.” As the sun dipped behind the crooked roofs, a gentle wind teased at Elara’s hair, carrying the promise that something about tomorrow would change everything.
