…Maya looked back at the forest one last time. "And then we live our lives. With all our dreams and memories intact." "Thanks to Chloe," Alex said softly. Chloe blushed. "Thanks to all of us. We did this together." They turned away from the forest and started walking toward town. The morning was crisp and clear, the world ordinary and safe. Behind them, the trees rustled once, as if in farewell. And in the shadows at the forest's edge, Elder Rowan watched them go. A smile touched his wrinkled lips. Then he faded into the green twilight, his duty fulfilled at last. The legend of the Lost Tree would live on. But the binding was broken. And somewhere, the third fruit still waited.
