The air was cool, and she leaned against him, her head on his shoulder. “What do you think will happen tomorrow?” she asked. “I don’t know,” he said. “But I will be here to find out.” She tilted her head up, her eyes reflecting the starlight. “That is all any of us can do.” 428 He kissed her forehead, and they sat in silence, the universe wheeling overhead.
