The star returned to its golden warmth, the planets settled into their orbits, and the valley filled with light. Elian landed the ship, opened the hatch, and led the child out into the meadow. The child looked up at the sky, at the star that now held their parents. “They’re still here,” the child said. “I can feel them.” Elian put a hand on their shoulder. “Yes. They are.
