They would face this too. The river of stars shifted, carrying them away from the sixth seed, toward the distant points of light that marked the remaining seeds. But now the river was tinged with amber, and the hum of the planted seeds was laced with a faint, discordant thread. Ahead, the next seed glowed—a pale, silvery light, like the first star of evening.
